It Just Takes One!
If not for the Club I would not have attended college. I would not know how to make friends. I learned responsibility and respect for myself and others. - Marvetta S., Boys & Girls Club member
Every year at the Boys & Girls Club, we hear many stories like Marvetta’s. By supporting our “It Just Takes One” campaign and helping change the life of one child for the better today, you’ll be making a real difference that will last a lifetime.
It’s that time of year when the local Macy’s lends its support to the Boys & Girls Club. Macy's card members can enroll in the “Thanks for Sharing” rewards program with a one-time $25 fee charged to their Macy's credit card. Once enrolled, card members accumulate rewards equal to 10% of most of their Macy’s card purchases through Dec. 31, 2013. Macy’s will make a donation for each customer enrolling in the Thanks For Sharing rewards program. The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is grateful to again benefit from this program, which directly supports Project Learn. Read about Nikolas, who was helped. Visit macys.com/thanks to learn more.
The City of Santa Clarita gave $25,000 to support the Club’s after-school programs.
The Boys & Girls Club is grateful for Kaiser Permanente’s continued support, which includes a recent $10,000 for the Fun and Fit program which involves healthy snacks and exercise.
At the Newhall and Canyon Country Clubhouses, there are many activities at any one time. The kids complete homework, work on the computers, exercise and/or engage in sports, enjoy healthy snacks, participate in character and leadership development activities, and interact with staff members. We also have a few exciting times of year where we become a filming location, just like many places in our valley. Just recently NCIS, which stars Mark Harmon, used the Newhall Clubhouse to shoot an episode.
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley is especially grateful for the Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation's generous donation of $30,000 towards our educational programs.
Thank you to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Employees' Reaching Out (AERO) Club, which provided $5,000 to benefit the nutrition program. Donations were provided by contributing employees of the Lockheed Martin facility in Palmdale.
JC Penney donated $4,000 toward our programs for local kids. The money was collected through various campaigns where customers can choose to round up their purchases to the next dollar and have the change benefit the Club.
We are so grateful to all of our benefactors for their tremendous partnership!
